NATURE IMMERSION

Nature immersion, the cure for central nervous system fatigue.

Anyone living in in the modern world (or anybody that owns a smart phone) is experiencing an over-stimulation of their central nervous system most of the time. Something is always demanding our attention, eventually leading to attention fatigue. At Hacienda del Sol we treat being in nature as a medicine for central nervous system (CNS) fatigue. Nothing quite defuses CNS overstimulation like being immersed in nature. The mechanisms with which with our central nervous system are activated can’t quite grasp the vast complexity of what surrounds you and they decide to take a little break. Observing the jungle from your cabina deck or staring far into the horizon during a glorious sunsets (don’t miss the daily sunset beach shuttle) are fantastic ways of doing this. So are our hikes and jumping into the ocean if you feel confident in your swimming skills.

If you want to take this nature immersion further, you can always sign up for extra tours and activities like horse back riding, snorkeling, canopy zip-lining, waterfall hiking, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking, to name a few of the outdoor activities available here.

To be quiet in nature is something that not all of us get to do everyday. If you’re not use to it, it might even feel uncomfortable. But when you allow it to touch you, and you feel it’s presence, there is not nothing more nourishing, soothing, and healing. 
Research is showing that being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones. 
In a time when so many of us are experiencing stress and anxiety, we encourage you to connect with the natural gifts of the earth. Take some time this weekend to connect with nature, slow down, and just see how you feel!
