Directions to Hacienda Del Sol

Located on the north-eastern coast of Costa Rica, Hacienda Del Sol is a hop, skip and a jump away from the country's two major airports, San Jose and Liberia.

San Jose International Airport to Hacienda Del Sol

There are a variety of ways to get to Hacienda Del Sol from the San Jose airport. Prices and travel time are listed below. If you have any questions regarding transportation, contact us.

SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Flight from: San Jose/Pavas to Nosara airport | Time: 45min http://www.natureair.com/ Note, check with us before you book a flight into Nosara. During the rainy season it can be very difficult to get to Hacienda del Sol from Nosara.

Driving: From San Jose you will get on the autopista (highway) heading towards Puntarenas, and continue on towards Liberia . While going in that direction you will need to watch for signs that will head you towards Puente Amistad (friendship bridge) which crosses Rio Tempisque . Watch for signs that will head you towards Nicoya, continue on in that direction by-passing Nicoya and heading toward Santa Cruz. As you go through Santa Cruz on the right you will pass a Total Gas station, you will cross a bridge and then turn left towards Junquillal, Drive on this paved road…about 20 minutes. You will then cross a bridge, there..turn left after bridge…don’t go straight toTamarindo. Go about 200 m. and turn right…(don’t go to the town of 27th April). Follow the wonderful paved road for about 10 minutes. You will pass through a little town called Rio Seco. After Rio Seco you drive for about 5 minutes..not too far. Watch for the signs that turn you left towards Lagarto,Marbella,Ostional (If you miss the turn off you will end up in Paraiso..near Junquillal) Drive on dirt road for almost an hour…you will pass Playa Lagarto, Marbella, San Juanillo…we are 1.5 k. past San Juanillo….look for the Hacienda Del Sol signs.
Tip: It's a good idea to gas your vehicle up in Santa Cruz.

Liberia International Airport

Liberia International Airport is closer to Hacienda Del Sol and provides you with several options to getting to the resort.

Bus from Liberia to Santa Cruz-Hacienda | Time:2.5hrs From Santa Cruz take a taxi or walk to the bus station near Maxi Bodega (a large supermarket) and catch the bus to San Juanillo. There are three buses daily now: 4:00am, 12:30pm and 4:00 pm. Be there early as they fill up quickly. You will be on the bus for about 2 hours. When you arrive at San Juanillo, don't get off as you can go another 1.5 kilometers towards Ostional - and get off at the Hacienda del Sol Sign and walk in (it's not far) - this is the most economical way.
Driving: From airport…turn right onto highway About 1 hr drive before the right turn towards Junquillal, Tamarindo (this turn off is just before the bridge that goes into Santa Cruz). Drive on this paved road…about 20 minutes. You will then cross a bridge There..turn left after bridge…don’t go straight toTamarindo
